avatarOne of my favorite little family owned italian bistro. Delicious grilled vegetable sandwich on fresh bread and salad with the best berry vinaigrette with mango and spring mix, yum! Very great service. They treat you well and I have been there several times and it's always excellent. Clean and neat. I've brought friends there and they always fall in love and want to return. It's one of those places you take friends visiting the area. it's amazing! And prices are very reasonable. It is a lunch place, so they close usually around 3-3:30. Just a heads up! Enjoy!!

avatarWent for lunch after a long hiatus (yay, strategically placed construction jam that only allows me to drive north at lunchtime!) and it was a perfect as ever. Seriously amazing, fresh, balanced, delicious food. Love, love, love this place.

avatarMet a friend halfway between Schaumburg and Milwaukee in Gurnee and wanted to goto a non-chain restaurant...this was suggested to me. It was AWESOME!! Immediately saw the lovely outdoor cafe tables outside, then walked in and loved inside as well. When the smell of fresh baked bread hit me, my tummy screamed for food! We sat ourselves and they brought us fresh warm italian bread with olive oil and parmesan. Both my friend and I ordered from the daily specials...she ordered a baked mostoccolli with sausage and a little side salad, I had the chicken salad with roasted pairs, fresh tomatoes and gorgonzola cheese. We swapped plates back and forth across the table and totally enjoyed the freshness and flavorfulness of each dish. Excellent, fresh, beautiful, tasty Italian food. Tina came over to see how we liked it....so good! Could not resist trying a cannoli and tiramisu for dessert. They did not disappoint. The Cannolli filling was very lite and creamy, and the tiramisu was perfect! We've decided that meeting in Gurnee at Tina's is going to become a regular lunch date for us. :-)

avatarTina's Bake Shop is one of the best restaurants in Lake County. The food is always fresh, hot and awesome. the service is great too. You can tell that Tina takes pride in her food. My favorite is the Bandiera Italian sandwich. I also love the soup. Today's was cream of asparagus. The tiramisu is to die for. It's better than anything in Italy. It's Tina's mom's recipe and you can tell. The bread is so fresh and I love that there is cheese and olive oil on the table waiting for you. This is our Saturday lunch spot many days out of the year.

avatarThis is one of the few restaurants in Gurnee that is not a chain and I say yay to that! This is my favorite place to go for lunch with friends. Everyone always enjoys the food and the atmosphere is friendly. I say, skip the chains and eat some real, home-cooked food!

avatarI can't tell you how amazing this place is.

First, there's Tina. If you ever wondered what Sicily is like, just ask her. She's just about the most animated restaurant owner I've ever seen and darts between the kitchen, register and tables with lightning fast speed. She loves the place, her staff and the food - nothing could be more obvious.

Now, to the food - it's delicious. I've eaten a lot of Italian food in my life (married into it), and nothing comes close to Tina. The Italian beef sandwiches are ridiculous. For the first time in my life that I've ever eaten an Italian beef sandwich, I can taste every single aspect of the sandwich. Of course there's the meat, but the au jous, provolone, bread and peppers all played a subtle, supporting aspect. Sound like a movie? Seemed like one at the time.

I only wish the place was bigger. Tina's is always packed for lunch - maybe one day she'll have more space than she knows what to do with.

avatarMy wife just loves this place for the Sandwiches and Soups. The owner is Italian and always in the store, she LOVES her business. Go there but watch out it is busy at lunch.
